There are a lot of things going on in emRG. The network is organized into workteams and we will eventually be covering 45 countries of Europe.

European Missions Research Group

-- emRG 4th Consultation Fact-Sheet --

PURPOSE

emRG – the European Missions Research Group – is inviting you to its 4th international consultation. One and a half year after its conception and a lot of preparatory work emRG is “going public” with its Research Framework designed to help paint “the big picture of missions in Europe" together. In this milestone consultation we are seeking the advice and wisdom of the larger missions community.

FOR WHOM

Missions researchers, strategists and church planters are invited to connect with the emRG group and help advance missions research to become more effective in furthering church multiplication. We expect between 20 and 30 participants from across Europe, of which 10 are confirmed so far.

AGENDA

Our time together will be characterized by presentations interchanging with plenary discussion times.

1.  Roll out and discuss the "emRG Matrix", the Research Framework which emRG is proposing to the European missions community as a basis for joint data collection towards the "big picture of missions in Europe".

2.  Discuss the results of the ESE, our just completed Europe wide study on the "Christianess of Europe".

European Spiritual Estimate (ESE) Study

Very interesting results.  Scott Friderich has written the top line report of the ESE study. Scott says, “Measuring the “Christianess” of Europe is no simple task.  Christianity has arguably been the central cultural driving force of Europe since it was given legal status by Emperor Constantine in 313.  As such there is obviously a high cultural affiliation with Christianity throughout Europe that might not necessarily reflect the personal convictions of many Europeans.  As such, the following metrics were considered in estimating Europe’s “Christianess”:
   •    Percent Christians
   •    Percent Gospel Oriented Christians
   •    Percent Responsiveness to the Gospel
   •    Population per Gospel Oriented Church
   •    Churches per Church plant”

Here is just one of the maps that has come out of the study:

“Gospel Responsiveness” per 1000 people

emRG is very happy to have been a part of this study and we are looking forward to participating in it again next year.

European Spiritual Estimate Study

The survey officially closed yesterday, Dec 12 2005, in terms of accepting new responses. I apologize if you did not have a chance to respond. Please be sure to fill ou the 2006 survey in nine months. A full report on the results will be issued by Jan 31, 2006. Topline results will be available by January 5, 2006. Please contact me if you would like to recieve the results: Scott Friderich .

The survey was conducted over three months (September to November 2005) to provide an intelligent and reasonable estimate of the spiritual condition of Europe. We expect that the information in this survey will be used by several partner missions organizations, European denominations, and publications to communicate a more realistic picture of the spiritual condition of our continent. Survey responses were lmited to those claiming to have Christian ministry experience in a European location of at least four continuous months during the last five years. Those who felt that they have information on multiple locations were free to complete this survey mulitple times for different locations.
